Halloween: My Homage to Audrey

I am hoping that dear Audrey would approve.

Alas, my roomate's and my messiness.

Halloween is the time to celebrate and commemorate to fashion! I decided to go as Holly Golightly, an eccentric fashionista character, that is played by my favorite, beloved actress, Audrey Hepburn! I wore my black shift dress, a think black belt, a fun set of pearls, black gloves, and black high heels. I finished the look by wearing my hair in the classic 60's bouffant with a tiara-like barrette.

I hope you all have a fun, fashionable Halloween, just like me!

The Splurge

For the past few weeks, I have been craving real authentic Japanese sushi and mouth-watering- satisfying cheesecake. That day has finally come! I was in my local market and I was pleasantly surprised to find calamari salad, sushi rolls, and cheesecake that looked decadent. I had to grab them! Sadly, where I am residing everything is so expensive! My lovely meal and desert cost me a whopping $14! I know it doesn't seem much, but I am a starving college student...

Anyways, let me describe to you how delicious my lunch tasted. The calamari salad had a very thick chewy texture and had light, spicy and salty, pickled taste to it due to the bamboo shoots, squid, and chili pepper sauce used. I couldn't figure out the other ingredients, but it was overall delectable!

The sushi consisted of shrimp, salmon, and tuna rolls. The flavor of the tuna is always very strong and present and it is always my favorite to eat first. Salmon was a bit bland for me, as well as the shrimp. The light orange glaze you see is actually kewpie mayo. (Kewpie Mayo is a very popular brand of mayo used in Japan that is used for a large part of making sushi).

Ahh. Desert. I picked up this lovely slice of cheesecake. It is peanut butter flavored that is topped off with chocolate fudge and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. ( I found it incredibly hard to not eat all of it at once!) The cheesecake was very light and rich. I don't understand how, but I believe this was the first time I have ever described cheesecake as light. I loved its consistency of its creaminess and savoriness of the organic peanut butter that was used. The graham cracker bottom just perfected this piece. The bottom was slightly crumbly, but I love that effect.

Well, I hope you all are inspired to grab some yummy lunch like I did! And thoroughly enjoy it. :)
